Auto-apply agents. Resume tailoring. ATS matching. A whole category of tools now exists to send your application faster. But before any of that runs, one question comes first: is the job even real?
Drag to match your pace and see how many of your applications could land on ghost jobs.
How we estimate: applications per day × 30 days × ghost-job rate. Greenhouse’s rate describes postings on its own platform, not your applications, so your real number will vary with the boards, industries and roles you apply to.
of hiring managers surveyed said their company posted a fake job in the past year.
This counts companies that posted at least one, not the share of listings. CNBC explains
candidates say they suspect they’ve come across a ghost job.
companies said they currently have a fake job listing up.
Statistics are from 2024 and may have changed. Job Forensic does not claim to prove that any individual job is fake. It surfaces hiring patterns so you can decide.
Use whichever tool you like to find, tailor and send applications. Job Forensic answers the question that comes before all of them.
Every job gets a Hiring Activity rating of High, Medium or Low, plus a confidence score that shows how much history stands behind it. We show you evidence, not a verdict.
See when a posting first appeared and whether it was removed, returned, reposted or edited. Job boards show one “posted” label. We show the history behind it.

Hiring Activity is Job Forensic’s assessment of how actively a company appears to be hiring for a specific role. We analyze the job’s historical behavior together with broader company hiring patterns, such as how long the role has been active, reposting behavior, job-description changes, and company-wide job movement. The result is shown as High, Medium, or Low to help you quickly understand the strength of the hiring activity behind the posting.
No. Job Forensic does not label jobs as “fake” or claim to know a company’s internal intentions. Instead, we identify patterns that may indicate lower hiring activity, such as unusually long posting histories, repeated reposting, or weaker company-wide hiring behavior. Our goal is to give you better context so you can make a more informed decision before applying.
Not directly. Job Forensic analyzes publicly available job postings and hiring behavior that we can observe over time. We do not have access to a company’s private recruiting systems, internal headcount plans, or confidential hiring decisions. Our intelligence is based on observable external hiring activity.
Yes. The Job Forensic Chrome extension is free to use and gives you a quick view of a job’s Hiring Activity, System Confidence, and key historical signals. More detailed company and hiring intelligence may be available through the Job Forensic website and future premium features.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to outside tools and data. Job Forensic Pro will be an MCP server you can attach to the assistant you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, so it can look up company hiring data, build shortlists and set alerts for you. It is coming soon, and you can join the waitlist in the Pro section.
Plus and Pro are coming soon. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when they open. The Chrome extension and basic company pages are free, and you can unlock three full company reports without paying.
Job Forensic is building the intelligence layer behind modern job search.
Most job platforms show what companies are posting today. We focus on what those postings have been doing over time.
Job Forensic tracks job listings, reposts, removals, description changes, and broader company hiring behavior to help job seekers understand whether an opportunity appears genuinely active, slowing down, or worth prioritizing.
Our goal is simple: give candidates more context before they invest time in an application.
We turn complex hiring history into clear signals like Hiring Activity, System Confidence, company hiring trends, and department-level behavior—so users can make better decisions instead of applying blindly.
Today, Job Forensic is available through a Chrome extension and company intelligence platform. Over time, we aim to become the intelligence layer that helps both people and AI career agents decide which opportunities are actually worth pursuing.
We read public job boards from Workday, Lever, Greenhouse and Ashby every day. Each posting is cleaned and normalized, then observed again and again. From that history we detect new jobs, removals, reposts and description changes, and we turn those events into signals you can read at a glance.
